Certificate of civil status. Also known as a certificate of non-marriage.
This certificate is requested by Moldovan citizens to get married abroad.
For European countries, this certificate must be apostilled (an Apostille stamp affixed); for CIS countries, only a notarized translation in Moldova or in the country where the document is presented is required.

A certificate of civil status from Moldova is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. For some countries, the validity period may differ. In some countries, it is three months; in others, six months.
In addition to the certificate of civil status, a certificate of matrimonial capacity may be required. For example, in Germany.
Some people confuse this certificate with documents such as: a certificate of family composition and a certificate of marital status. These are different certificates. Their content does not contain the necessary information that is present in the certificate of civil status.
When obtaining this certificate, it is recommended to check the spelling of the surname and first name against the spelling in the passport that you submit to the authorities for marriage registration. It sometimes happens that the passport was issued outside Moldova and there are discrepancies in the spelling of certain letters. For example, ch (the sound ‘ch’ in English) corresponds to ci or ce in Romanian.
In case of such discrepancies, we can provide a special certificate stating that the spelling with ch corresponds to the spelling with ci, ce. To obtain such a certificate (if the spelling of the full name does not match), please contact our agency.
Additionally, please note that marriages and divorces registered in Transnistria must be legalized in the Republic of Moldova before obtaining such a certificate. We also legalize marriage and divorce certificates from Transnistria.
