Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Moldova in 2012

In 2012, exports of goods from Moldova amounted to 2,161.8 million US dollars.

Export deliveries to European Union countries totaled 1,013.4 million US dollars.

CIS countries accounted for 43% of Moldova’s exports.

In 2012, imports amounted to 5,213.1 million US dollars. Imports from Europe increased, while imports from CIS countries decreased slightly.

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in December 2013, goods worth 202.1 million US dollars were exported, which is 20.0% less than in the previous month and 7.9% more compared to December 2012.

Export deliveries to European Union countries amounted to $790.4 million (9.6% more than in January-September 2012). The share of Moldova’s exports to CIS countries was 40.1%, amounting to $689.7 million. Exports of goods to these countries increased by 3.4% compared to January-September 2012.

Import deliveries from European Union countries amounted to $1,776.2 million, or 44.7% of total imports (January-September 2013).

Goods worth $1,207.8 million were imported from CIS countries (3.2% more than in January-September 2012), accounting for 30.4% of total imports (31.3% in January-September 2012).

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in September 2014, goods worth 184.9 million US dollars were exported, which is 4.9% more than in the previous month and 6.2% less compared to September 2013.

In January-September 2014, exports amounted to 1,737.7 million US dollars, which is 0.2% less than in the corresponding period of 2013.

Export deliveries to European Union countries (EU-28) amounted to 904.8 million US dollars (14.9% more than in January-September 2013), or 52.1% of total exports (45.2% in January-September 2013).The share of CIS countries accounted for 32.8% of Moldova’s exports (in January-September 2013 – 39.6%), which corresponds to 569.8 million US dollars. Exports of goods to these countries decreased by 17.3% compared to January-September 2013.

In September 2014, goods worth 458.9 million US dollars were imported, which is 11.1% more than in the previous month and 0.7% more compared to September 2013.

In January-September 2014, imports amounted to 3,865.8 million US dollars, which is 2.6% less than in the same period of 2013.

Import supplies from European Union countries (EU-28) amounted to 1,912.9 million US dollars (7.7% more than in January-September 2013) or 49.5% of total imports (44.7% in January-September 2013).

From CIS countries, goods worth 1,038.9 million US dollars were imported (14.0% less than in January-September 2013), which corresponds to 26.9% of total imports (30.4% in January-September 2013).
